Matt Balazik, Ph.D., receives national T-Mobile Unconventional Award

Financial award goes toward further sturgeon research.

Matt Balazik, Ph.D., research faculty at Rice Rivers Center, earned second place at the T-Mobile Unconventional Awards held October 9, 2024 in Las Vegas. The financial award, totaling $10,000, will go toward Balazik's Atlantic sturgeon research in the James River.

The third annual awards ceremony celebrates innovators who have made outstanding achievements in their industries and communities.

Balazik's award was acknowledged by T-Mobile, the Financial Times, EdTech Innovation Hub, and IOT Insider.
