Matt Balazik, Ph.D., research faculty at Rice Rivers Center, earned second place at the T-Mobile Unconventional Awards held October 9, 2024 in Las Vegas. The financial award, totaling $10,000, will go toward Balazik's Atlantic sturgeon research in the James River.

The third annual awards ceremony celebrates innovators who have made outstanding achievements in their industries and communities.
