Sustainability academics

In 2010, the VCU provost approved a VCU Life Sciences-facilitated effort to infuse the concepts of sustainability into curricula across the university. This effort is governed by the VCU Sustainability Academics Leadership Team, which is made up of representatives from across the university. As a part of this effort, an undergraduate Certificate in Sustainable Innovation was approved for implementation in fall 2014.

Some of the diverse courses that feature sustainability content include:

  • Introduction to African Societies
  • Environmental Science
  • Neurobiology and Behavior
  • Chemistry and Society
  • Introduction to Engineering
  • Stem Cell Engineering
  • Earth System Science
  • Energy and the Environment
  • Politics of the Environment
  • International Political Economy
  • Communicating Across Cultures
